Ingredients
We strongly believe that the use of parabens and synthetic preservatives causes both long term and permanent damage the human body.
Please understand that while not all of our products contain the ingredients listed on this page, some of these ingredients may be included in any one of our mineral makeup products. We are working on getting an accurate listing for each color and it's individual ingredients.
Titanum Dioxide: Micronized Titanium Dioxide is a natural mineral, mined from quarries and refined to form a fluffy white powder. It is widely used in cosmetics as a whitening agent and is mainly used as a sunscreen because it has a large capacity to block UV light. In fact, it is the number one choice for the most effective sunscreens.
Bismuth Oxychloride: Bismuth oxychloride is a salt of Bismuth, which is mined from the Earth's crust and is non-toxic. It is used in cosmetics to impart whiteness, brightness, a pearlescent appearance a smooth texture, and superior adhesion. There is some debate over it's use so we encourage you to educate yourself and make the decision that is right for you.
Zinc Oxide: Zinc Oxide is used to calm and soothe irritated skin and is an anti-inflammatory. It also protects the skin from the sun.
Iron Oxides: Iron Oxides are natural salts that need to be oxidized to remove impurities. This produces beautiful "earthy" tones for natural mineral makeup.
Carmine: This is a crimson pigment which is non-toxic (and listed for use in food). It comes from Mexican and Central American beetles, where the brilliant red color comes when beetles have died naturally. The beetles are collected from cacti. Vegans and those practicing Kosher will most likely choose to avoid Carmine. You will likely find this in reds, pinks, oranges, and even some yellow products ranging from your juice, to your bath and body products.
Ferric Ferrocyanide: This has low or no toxicity and is made up from two components - iron (ferric) and ferrocyanide (a salt). It is used to produce some blue colors. Products containing this are eye colors which should not be used on the lips.
Ultramarine: a blue pigment occurring in nature as a proximate component of lapis lasuli. Ultramarine is the most complex of the mineral pigments.
Mica: A naturally occurring mineral mined from the Earth's crust, purified and crushed into fine powder. It shines and glitters like a prism and is used to create shimmer and shine.
Silica: found in nature in several forms, including quartz and opal. In fact, 35 crystalline forms have been identified in nature |
